If you’re searching for an exclusive, truly one-of-a-kind saree then this is it. The highlight of this saree is the unique and authentic Gond art painted on it, where each painting is inspired from nature and its elements. The work on each saree highlights the intricacies and nuances of this art form, which is a result of an age-old tradition being passed down over many generations.
We picked out a select few of our handloom cotton sarees having a thicker yarn finish on the pallu. We sent these to the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh where the indigenous tribal artisans hand painted them using the famous Gond art.
Rimagined wanted to work with them for two main reasons. Firstly, these tribal artisans are the remaining of a dying tribe of Gond artists and are struggling to keep the art alive, and secondly, to provide those struggling to make ends meet with an income. Completing the handiwork on one saree itself takes about 10 to 12 days!
Embracing the handloom culture, this saree uses yarns that are dyed in azo-free colours before undergoing handloom weaving. As you can see, our product creation process is kept sustainable and environment-friendly at every step.
The feel of this saree is breathable and airy, thanks to the softness of pure cotton. You are bound to look and feel comfortable in this minimalist yet elegant piece.
We’ve thoughtfully created this design with upcycled weaves as the focus of our cotton collection.
