This is an exclusive range where we picked a few of our handloom cotton sarees with thicker yarn finish on the pallu and we sent it to Madhya Pradesh, to have them hand painted by authentic tribal artisans. These artisans are the last of a dying tribe who are known for their famous art form of Gond.
We specifically wanted to work with these artisans for a two-fold reason; to provide a form of income for these artisans who are struggling to make ends meet and to keep the original art form alive, to not let it disappear in the myriad machine printed copies.
Each painting is inspired by Nature around them, that is why you will see many kinds of trees and animals depicted in their work.
It takes around 10 to 12 days to complete work on one saree. The work on each saree showcases the intricacies and nuances of this beautiful art form that is a result of traditions being passed down for hundreds of years over many generations and the effort that each artist puts in to create it!
Each saree is upcycled and has unique work on it and therefore cannot be replicated. Each is one of a kind!
The saree is 6m long and comes with blouse piece attached.
